The heart of a conductor beats for the music. He not only follows it - note by note - he is it, feels every single tone. A good conductor becomes one with the music and makes it tangible for his audience. He wields the baton like a magician his wand. He is able to reach into the deepest recesses of the human soul. A good conductor is passion personified. During performances some of them may even forget the orchestra is present, as they have internalized the music to the point where it carries them to other spheres - far away from time and space. Such conductors do exist! And one of them has so completely been taken hold of by the music he believes he can do without an orchestra entirely.
