Works by Tone Fink make a downright demand for action. They want to be touched, turned and moved. konnex let itself be drawn into a dialogue with some of these works. Where this dialogue between dancing body and art-object led to could be observed during a performance at the exhibition at KUB (Kunsthaus Bregenz) in December 2003. The audience was invited to let their eyes roam in order to become familiar with wind-flatterer, double-pillars, rocking horse and other objects by Tone Fink. Eventually their attention was drawn to the breathing skin of a car. Rustling paper rent the silence and eyes thus startled where encouraged to set out on a journey of discovery to become witnesses of a fragmentary story: four performers brought Tone Fink's objects to life and sent them on a journey into the unknown. Objects on wheels, bringing to mind associations with futuristic cars became living beings due to the minimal movement of breathing. What appeared undefined at the start began to take shape. Creatures developed and told stories of eating and being eaten, of swallowing and spitting out. One vehicle grew legs, another a head and everything else took place in the audience's head. Or, to use Tone Fink's own words: "Only the observer actively finishes a work of art."
